Bislan Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov Declared Wanted Over the Attempted Assassination of Allamjonov
Uzbekistan has issued an international warrant through Interpol for two Chechen nationals, Bislan Rasaev (36) and Shamil Temirkhanov (31), who are suspected of taking part in an assassination attempt targeting Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Presidential Administration’s Department of Information Policy.
According to investigators, Rasaev and Temirkhanov entered Uzbekistan via different routes: one allegedly crossed the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border illegally, while the other entered through the Dostlik checkpoint. Both suspects are said to have acted on orders from unidentified clients who reportedly offered them $1.5 million to assassinate Allamjonov and Dmitry Li, head of the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP).
The charges brought against Rasaev and Temirkhanov include the following:
• Illegal Exit from or Entry in Republic of Uzbekistan(Article 223 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code): This charge pertains to Rasaev’s alleged unlawful entry into Uzbekistan from Kyrgyzstan, reportedly facilitated by local accomplices.
• Smuggling (Article 246 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code): Rasaev is accused of participating in the illegal transportation of goods or items potentially used in the preparation of the crime.
• Illegal Possession of Arms, Ammunition, Explosive Substances, or Explosive Assemblies (Article 248 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code): Investigators claim that the suspects possessed weapons intended for the planned assassination.
• Failure to Report about Crime or Concealment Thereof(Article 241 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code): Both suspects are accused not only of failing to report the planned crime but also of actively participating in its organization.
