From Digital Platform to Real-World Business: Bank RBK Launches Lending in Digital Tenge
Bank RBK has expanded its use of the digital tenge beyond payment and transaction services, introducing lending in the new currency to businesses in the real economy. The first loans have been issued under the Damu Fund’s Orleu programme, marking a new step in the digital transformation of business financing in Kazakhstan.
The digital tenge is more than just a new means of payment. It also offers an additional way to improve transparency in government-backed business support programmes. The technology makes it possible to track how funds are used, while giving banks new opportunities to expand lending and streamline financial operations.
Bank RBK has already issued several loans using the digital tenge, becoming one of the first banks in Kazakhstan to incorporate the technology into its lending operations. In one case, an entrepreneur used the financing to purchase a production facility in Karaganda, enabling the business to expand its manufacturing of equipment for livestock farms.
«Our goal is not simply to introduce new technologies, but to turn them into practical tools that benefit the economy. The digital tenge creates new opportunities to finance businesses and improve the delivery of government support programmes. For Bank RBK, this is an important step towards diversifying our financial instruments and developing digital banking solutions. We see considerable potential in technologies that make financial processes more efficient and help businesses grow», said Aidos Mukhamedzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Bank RBK.
It took just four months to move from the initial project launch to lending in digital tenge. In May 2026, the bank began integrating its systems with the Digital Tenge Platform operated by the National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan. During this period, Bank RBK introduced functionality for purchasing, selling, tagging and transferring digital tenge.

The new service is already available to customers. Businesses can open a digital tenge account through the bank’s Internet Client platform by submitting an application signed with a digital signature. They can also apply for loans under the government-backed programme.
For Bank RBK, the initiative brings together two strategic priorities: adopting modern financial technologies and expanding access to business financing. The practical use of the digital tenge creates new opportunities for cooperation between banks, the government and entrepreneurs, helping channel financial resources into the development of Kazakhstan’s real economy.
